Obituary of Marilyn T. Gerby

MARILYN T. GERBY

LATHAM – Marilyn T. Gerby, 73 of Latham, beloved wife of the late Roger W. Gerby, who died only thirteen days prior on January 23rd, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2023.

Born in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary (McCarthy) Turner. Marilyn and Roger were married for almost fifty years.

A graduate of The University at Albany, Marilyn worked as a Librarian at the Colonie Town Library before transitioning to a creatively fulfilling stint as a Freelance Copywriter. She also reviewed rock concerts and ice shows for a local publication.

Marilyn was happiest when she was reading, doing crossword puzzles in ink, and listening to music, preferably with a view of Friends Lake or Lake George. A lifelong lover of animals, she gave to numerous animal charities while opening her heart and home to a succession of lucky house cats. One of her proudest moments was traveling to Kentucky to meet Triple Crown winning horse American Pharoah. Forever young, forever hip, and forever fiercely herself, she will be forever missed and cherished by those who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her two sons Chris Gerby and Brian (Amanda) Gerby, one grandson Oliver Gerby, as well as her beloved feline companion, Bolivar.

In keeping with Marilyn's wishes services will be private at this time. Those wishing to express their condolences and leave a message for Marilyn's family may visit www.dufresneandcavanaugh.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, Latham.
