WILLIAM H. MEYER

Rexford- William H. Meyer, 100 of Rexford, beloved husband of the late Evelyn J. Longfritz, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2022 at Shaker Place Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Colonie.

Born in Throggs Neck, NY, on November 24th, 1922, he was the son of the late Joseph and Freda (Dittwald) Meyer. Bill proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1940 until 1962 retiring at the rank of Master Sergeant. During World War II, Bill served honorably and courageously, seeing combat in both Australia and New Guinea. He was featured in a 2010 Life Stories article in the Times Union about his military experience then transiting into an educator at Shaker High School in Latham.

Bill was a dedicated teacher at Shaker High School where he taught Social Studies and later led the Audio-Visual Department. He retired in 1982 after 23 years of service to his community as an educator.

Bill is survived by his dear friend Charles L. Tryon of Latham and in addition to his parents and late wife, is predeceased by his brother Joseph R. Meyer.
