The Reverend Robert E. Criswell was the beloved Pastor Emeritus of Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church in Alexandria, Virginia. His impactful sermons over the years led one to be still and soak in how the points made were relevant to your life and faith journey. Two main themes were God's love for everyone and building community that proclaims the way of Jesus. Bob epitomized the meaning of "pastor" thanks to his ability to listen, laugh, be a wise counselor and friend, love, empathize, and show compassion. Prayerful and Spirit-led, he and his family were a great blessing to the congregation.
May the God Bob served and the love God enabled Bob to give to his family, whom he deeply loved, and to everyone he has served during his ministry bring comfort and peace to all. We will miss our friend who brought joy, light and hope into our lives and who celebrated all that is precious, wonderful and good. Bob's living truly reflected what following Jesus meant. Rest in peace dear Bob, embraced by the love of God whom you have well served so faithfully.
