Obituary of Timothy P. Vadney
TIMOTHY PATRICK VADNEY
BALLSTON SPA - Timothy Patrick Vadney, 61, of Ballston Spa, NY, passed away on July 14th, 2022 after a short battle with lung cancer.
Tim was born in Albany, NY to Joyce and Peter Vadney on September 25th, 1960. He graduated from Guilderland High School in 1978 and from there he went on to the Navy. While in the Navy he served at the Naval Air Stations in Brunswick, Maine, and in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. After completing his service in 1983, he joined his father and his brothers Ed and Billy to work as a Dock Builder for Local Union 1456. Ultimately Tim decided that getting dirty wasn't for him, and he transitioned into a long career selling cars and trucks. He spent many years at Gendron's Truck Center in Troy, and was most recently the Commercial Truck Manager at Mangino Buick GMC in Ballston Spa.
While Tim was a dedicated worker and excelled in his career, his number one love was for his family. On July 30th , 1993 he married Diane Lehner after many years of dating, and four years later they completed their family with the birth of their son Peter. Pete and Di were the lights of his life, and the amount of pride he had for Peter was abundantly clear. For instance, as the proud uncle, Tim could be counted on to represent the colleges of each of his nieces and nephews with a sweatshirt or long sleeve T. All of that changed as soon as Peter started college at LeMoyne. Green and gold lacrosse apparel completely took over his wardrobe.
In addition to his family, Tim enjoyed NASCAR, golfing, the Green Bay Packers, and kept in touch with a few close friends. While he was always there to help in any way he could, Tim also found a way to lovingly give someone a hard time, especially Di. They always had a good laugh together. His quick wit and way with words set him apart, for example a few years ago his go-to drink order was "Corona, no fruit," and his ice cream order was typically "chocolate, straight up." There are so many of his little sayings that will serve as reminders of him for years and years to come.
Tim is survived by his wife Diane (Lehner), and their son Peter, both of Ballston Spa, NY, His Parents Peter and Joyce Vadney of Guilderland, NY, his siblings Ed (Carole) Vadney of Delanson, NY, Tracy (Tony) Liguori of Guilderland, NY, Bill (Mary Ellen) Vadney of Seaford, NY and Jamie (Steve) Pitkiewicz of Guilderland, NY. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and great nieces. Tim was predeceased by his niece Sheryl Vadney of Delanson, NY and his beloved chocolate lab Packer.
