Obituary of David Todd Spiak

DAVID TODD SPIAK David "Bud" Spiak, 36 of Guilderland, NY, passed away, suddenly, on April 2nd, 2022 at Albany Medical Center. Bud is survived by his wife, Sarah and their daughter, Brooke. His parents, Dave and Sue Spiak. His sisters, Cristen Lare (Josh), and Stephanie Meikle (Jordan) as well as his niece and nephew. Bud graduated from Guilderland HS in 2003 and studied Fire Science at SCCC. In his younger years, he was a Volunteer Firefighter with Guilderland FD and enjoyed the thrill of racing to respond to calls in the middle of the night. His love for helping others brought him to work as an EMT for Mohawk Ambulance and a Hyperbaric Technician at Albany Med/ Memorial Hospitals. His childhood classmates will remember him as lead drummer of the "Wild Stallions" with a bold spirit who could easily fill a room with laughter. Bud had a talent for being able to create something out of nothing. Whether it was making a friend out of a stranger, a drum beat from thin air, or erecting a 100ft. building from the ground up. Bud was a talented Crane Operator and worked on countless job sites with the IUOE Local 158. He loved his work so much that he would jump out of bed and race out the door before the sun came up-every day without missing a beat. Bud married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Sarah, at Longfellows in Saratoga, NY on October 9, 2011. They had a beautiful life together for many years and spent their time together singing to "Buds beats" in their kitchen, taste testing at new restaurants, cruising around on their motorcycle or up and down the Hudson River on their boat, they loved camping and chasing waterfalls, star gazing and adopting pets. However, In 2014, his heart was stolen by another. "I'm sorry Sarah, but I've fallen in love with someone else," were his words at the hospital as he held his Daughter for the 1st time. Brooke, "little B", was the light of his life. They shared an intense love for constructing Lego Sets, exploring the world, rock climbing and eating burgers at Jumpin' Jacks. Brooke inherited Buds love of adventure and passion for helping others. When we are missing him we simply need only to look at Brooke, as his love that was instilled in her can be felt by us all. We would like to thank the MVP Arena Security Staff as well as Albany Fire and Mohawk Ambulance for their response time and ability to work under pressure. In lieu of funeral services, we ask that all who wish to honor Bud, do so by following his lead and set out on a new adventure. Hike to a waterfall, skip rocks with your kids or swim in the water with your dog. If you can take pause in these moments and feel the wind brush your hair, you will know, that he is with you.
