Obituary of Grace H. Ryan

GRACE H. RYAN Menands- Grace H. Ryan, 97 of Menands, beloved wife of the late Robert J. Ryan, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, February 18 at West Boca Medical Center in Boca Raton, Fl. Born in Cohoes on March 5, 1912, she was the daughter of the late John and Catherine (Tully) Higgins. She was a graduate of Russell Sage Class of 1931 and was the oldest living alumni. She was a dedicated teacher for many years in Cohoes High and VanSchaick Elementary School. Grace was a member of the Menands Senior Citizens, North Albany Senior Citizens at Sacred Heart as well as the Colonie Elks #2192 Ladies Auxillary. She was one of the founders and life member of the Menands Fire Co. #1 Ladies Auxillary and a member of the Sandalfoot South Monday Club in Boca Raton. Grace was a longtime communicant of St. Joan of Arc Church in Menands. She enjoyed all kinds of sports especially golf, she was an avid NY Yankee fan and was a past member of Boca Dunes Ladies Golf league for 25 years. Grace had a full and fun life with all her family and friends and will be greatly missed. Grace is survived by her loving daughter Jane O'Keefe of Menands; her 3 cherished grandchildren; Nancy (Mike) Sposito, Tim (Aimee) O'Keefe and Jack (Joellynn) O'Keefe as well as her 7 adored great grandchildren; Michael, Lea, Alison, Molly, Aidan, Ava and Tori. She is predeceased by her son in law; Jack O'Keefe. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Monday from 4-8 P.M. at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, Ltd., 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday February 23 at 9:00 am at St. Joan of Arc Church, 76 Menand Road, Menands. Fr. Kofi Amissah will officiate.
