JOHN LUIZZI
GUILDERLAND - John Luizzi 80, beloved husband of Charlene (Ciarfello) Luizzi, passed away peacefully with his loving family at his side on January 3, 2022.
John was born on May 19, 1941 in Albany to the late Frank and Catherine (Spiniato) Luizzi. He was married to his one and only love of his life Charlene (Ciarfello)Luizzi for over 62 years and together they raised five children. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
John loved spending time with his family and friends, working in his garage and visiting casinos just for the thrill of it. He also enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden and peach trees. John owned and operated Capitol Paving Inc. for over 40 years right up to his retirement.
In addition to his loving wife he is survived by his dear children, Monica Luizzi Morrell of Colonie (Richard Morrell of Guilderland), Johnny Luizzi of Albany (Christina Lo Curto of Florida), Joann (Edison) Pfaff of Colonie, Franki Ann Luizzi of Loudonville, and Michael (Heather) Luizzi of Guilderland. Also survived by his sister Lena Luizzi of Maryland (formerly of Albany), his cherished grandchildren Charlene, Jessica, Richie, Michael Jr., Angela, Taylor, and Nicholas, his adored great-grandchildren Noah and newly born Michael Stelluti III, as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents John was pre-deceased by his sister Anna and his brothers Frankie, Carmen, and Pete.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Saturday, January 8, 2022 from 9:00 – 11:00 am at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd, Latham. A prayer service will take place beginning at 11:00 am and interment will immediately follow in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Albany. Masks will be required and social distancing precautions will be taken within the funeral home at all times.
A special thank you to our mom who spent her entire life loving the man of her dreams, gracefully and peacefully right up to his final breath. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Community Hospice for their special care given to John in his final days.
