DIANE L. VELARDI Latham-Diane L. Velardi, 72 of Latham, entered into eternal life on Monday November 29, 2021 at her home in Latham. Born in Buffalo, on November 15, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Ruth (Keen) Tiedman. She was a dispatcher, employed by the Colonie Police Department for many years, retiring in 2009 and was the recipient of the distinguished service award in 1989 and 1991. While working for the police department she helped establish the Booboo bear program, one the first domestic violence programs within the department. Diane was a honorary lifetime member of the Latham-Colonie #3394 Columbiettes. She was a member of the A.P.C.O. and a lifelong fan of the Buffalo Bills. Survivors include her loving children Michael (Denise) Velardi and Brett Velardi, her sister Susan Anderson, her cherished grandchildren Kaitlyn Velardi, Shane Velardi and Riley Poole, she is also survived by her aunt Doris Dudek. Funeral services will be held Sunday December 5, 2021 at 3:00 pm in the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham with Rev. Geoffrey Burke officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to call Sunday from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
