When I was first hired as an Administrative Law Judge for the DMV, I spent many days working alongside Gary to train for my new position. Gary was first-rate judge, who recognized the importance and potential impact of every case. As a result, he gave each case the time and attention it deserved. Gary was a mentor to me, and I will forever be grateful for his guidance and friendship.

Gary was our best ALJ. He was always reliable and knowledgeable. He drove to our hearing locations in the most miserable winter weather. He helped us move forward from old fashioned tape recorders to digital media for which he received an award from the Commissioner. Rest In Peace my friend.

Karen and I were very sorry to hear of Gary‘s passing. We, and the other lawyers in our firm enjoyed appearing before him. The best part of the appearances were the wonderful conversations after the hearings had concluded. From new case law to complex regulations, it was a dynamic and interesting exchange of ideas and information. Gary was also a fount of information about technology and its application. Gary had a great sense of humor which I particularly enjoyed. I will miss his keen intellect and the warmth of his personality. May his memory be a blessing to all of us who knew him and enjoyed his friendship.
