Obituary of Lena A. VanBuskirk

LENA A. VANBUSKIRK Latham- Lena A. VanBuskirk, 96 of Latham, beloved wife of the late Kenneth C. VanBuskirk Sr., passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2009 at Our Lady of Hope Residence. Born in Cohoes on November 13, 1913, she was the daughter of the late William E. and Emma (Janotte) MacDuff. She was a graduate of Keveny Memorial Academy and Mildred Elley School. Lena lived most of her life in Cohoes. She was employed for 25 years as an Insurance Broker & Treasurer of Gilchrest-Dunz Agency in Cohoes, retiring in 1974. She had been a volunteer in the office at Our Lady of Hope Residence since May 1977 and resided there since 1999. Survivors include 3 cherished grandchildren; Susan Mappes, Kenneth VanBuskirk III and Sarah Harrington, as well as 4 great grandchildren; Jacqueline Mappes, Matthew Mappes, Maeve Harrington and Frances Olivia Harrington. Her loving niece Karen Angleson, nephew Thomas Conerty and daughter-in-law Johanna VanBuskirk. She is predeceased by her loving son Major Kenneth VanBuskirk Jr. and sister Malvina Conerty. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Tuesday beginning at 9:30am at Our Lady of Hope Residence, 1 Jeanne Jugan Lane, Latham. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Hope Chapel, 1 Jeanne Jugan Lane, Latham. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Waterford.
