To the Croghan family as we mourn the loss of Sister Catherine; we remember her fondly as a special neighbor on Neilson Street back in the day, sitting on the porch with your lovely mother "across the way" (how we all enjoyed those visits!) Seeing her out in the community spreading God's word and living her mission. And always that great Irish laugh! May she rest in peace, and may God keep her in his eternal care. Thinking of you all and sending sympathy and prayers.

Sister Catherine was part of our family for over 20 years. She rented an apartment from my mother. My grandaughter grew up believing "Sister" Catherine was Grandma's sister. In addition to being a sweet, fun person, she was the best nun I have ever known. Her realistic approach to the human condition made her someone that you could see God working through. She was the Lords instrument. She was not judgmental and yet was aware of the dark and dirty side of people. She will be missed on this earth and as she lived, I hope God put a special seat at his table for her. With love and tears, The Carriero Family

I have missed her since the day she retired from St. Joseph/St Patrick ministry. So many memories - teaching Religious Ed with her as our DRE, going out for breakfast together, and drinking the tea she would make for us as we counted the church collection because Sister Catherine said "everyone likes tea...Drink up.! She was loved at St. Joe/St Pat's.

Our sympathy and our prayers are with the Croghan family. Every time we saw Sister Catherine we would say :There's one of the Croghan "girls". Her face would light up and we could read the map of Galway beneath her twinkling eyes. The dear Sisters of St. Joseph have lost a blessed friend but heaven gained an angel.

Sister Catherine was such a wonderful person. We worked together with the youth group some years back. Although we had lost touch over the years her words of inspiration were always close at heart. Make she Rest In Peace in the arms of the Lord.

Sister Catherine and I knew each other initially from St. Francis de Sales, but we became very close friends during her time at St. John's. I was running the Spanish CCD program at the time, as well as typing the weekly church bulletin. Being that we lived so close to each other, I would type the bulletin at home and then drop it off at Sister's home for her to bring in to church for me. That meant a weekly visit with Sister and her mom whom she was caring for at the time. Being that I was caregiving for both of my parents at the same time, she and I really bonded and shared our mutual concerns with each other. As a result, we became very close even after she left St. John's and up until she left Utica. We shared many good times together. She was a lovely, amicable person. My sincerest condolences go out to her entire family. We have truly lost someone special who touched so many lives. May she rest in peace.
