ROBERT R. McKAY SR. Latham-Robert R. McKay, Sr., 87 of Latham, beloved husband of the late Barbara Helen Blanchard McKay entered into eternal life on Tuesday December 22, 2020 at the Eddy-Memorial in Troy. Born in Cohoes on December 13, 1933, he was the first son of the late Richard and Eva (Vautrin) McKay. He was a graduate of Cohoes High School. Bob was Sargent First Class Army Reserves - Medical Detachment Unit 1951-1960. He was formerly employed by General Electric, Bumstead Chevrolet, Denooyer Chevrolet, and was the proud owner of McKay Brothers Motors in Troy. Bob was an avid golfer, scoring 10 hole-in-ones. He was formerly a member of the Troy Country Club as well as a golfer in many leagues in Spring Hill, Florida. Bob was a former member of the Colonie Elks Lodge #2192 and the Latham Kiwanis. He and his late wife Barbara enjoyed a summer home for many years on Taconic Lake in Grafton where he was a member of the Taconic Lake Association. He was a Little League coach in Latham for several years. Bob and Barbara enjoyed traveling, loved spending time with family and friends and they always enjoyed a good game of cards. His greatest joy in life was the time he spent with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include his loving children David Michael McKay and Kathleen Mary (Paul) Robetor, his cherished grandchildren Tyler McKay, Jessica (Christopher) Kenney, Kaitlyn (Matthew) Jones and Jaime McKay and her partner Josh Foster, his adored great-grandchildren Fiona, Savannah and Miles, his brother Roger (Joanne) McKay, sisters Shirley McSweeney and Barbara (Scott) Morrell. He is also survived by his dear friend Peg Heck and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his late wife, Bob was predeceased by his son Robert R. McKay Jr. and his brothers Donald, Richard and Gary McKay. Funeral services will be private with a celebration of Bob's life at a later date.
