The Legacy of Phil Dupp: It has been called to my attention that not everyone in the Van Sleet clan was made privy to the existence of our relative, Phil Dupp. So, here's the story: When we were kids, my mother told us that when she, Aunt Joan, and Uncle Ray were kids, nearly every night after they'd finished eating dinner, Pepa would say "I'm Phil Dupp" (as in "filled up"). Uncle Ray would then say "You are! And I thought you were Ray Van Sleet", and Pepa would laugh hysterically, as though he'd never heard that joke before. So, for years now in my immediate Buff family, at any gathering at which food is present (which is always), one of us will declare that "Phil Dupp has arrived". Now, having made you all privy to what was a silly joke between Pepa and Uncle Ray which we have continued to carry on, I hope Phil Dupp will become a part of your family's gatherings:)

Aunt Mary, Karen, Mark, Ricky, and Billy - I was so sorry to learn of your dad's passing, but I couldn't help but to think that Mema, Pepa, Aunt Joan, and my mom wanted him with them for Christmas. I have the most fond memories of all of us being together at Mema & Pepa's and all the laughs we shared, and I have no doubt that they're all up there reunited and having a great time. In fact, I'm almost certain Phil Dupp has shown up by now:) Your cousin, Marlene (a/k/a Lainie) P.S. Eating slowly must've been a Van Sleet thing because Aunt Joan & my mom were also the slowest eaters on the planet!

I worked with Ray for many years at Cluett,Peabody and also bowled with Ray and his two sons,Bill and Eric.We were team members,had a lot of fun and won some championships as I recall.I have great memories of all of this.God speed to the entire family.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I worked with Ray for a number of years at Cluett. Ray was a really nice man. Our nickname for Ray was Speedy which arose from the fact Ray ate his meals slowly because he chewed each mouthful of food 30 times. Again, my condolences and he was a great guy!
