To Sandy and family, I'm so sorry for John's passing. He fought a long, hard battle and was someone to be in awe of. We met as Fraud Investigators when we were hired by Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. in 1998. His career with the Watervliet PD and mine with the NY State Police had many similar and unusual experiences. While I worked out of Buffalo and John worked out of Albany, we became close friends, got together quite often and had plenty of laughs and memories. I thank God that I was able to speak with John a day or two before he was admitted to Hospice. To the family, John was one of a kind and will be sorely missed. Jim Cackett

Sandy, John, Deana,
I was saddened to hear about Jacks passing form my mother. I still have fond memories of him and his kindness toward me even though I did not deserve it as the smart ass little kid from across the street. His actions were a sign of his character and I remember them clearly to this day.
My thoughts are with you and your family and I hope all else is well. He will surely be missed my many.

My sympathies go out to John's family. I had the pleasure to work with John when he worked for Liberty Mutual Insurance. He was a very capable and friendly person who did excellent work. I always knew we were in good hands when he was working on a matter for us. I also remember his habit of bringing doughnuts to our office when he came to us. It showed how considerate he was of others.

To the family,
I had the pleasure of meeting John when I was a young Assistant DA back in the early 90's and I was assigned to the Watervliet City Court. He taught me a great deal but I remember him more for always having a good word for me and a big grin on his face. After he retired I would occasionally bump into him at Lowes, or a place like Beff's, and it was great to catch up with him. I am very sorry for your loss and I will say a prayer for John.

Because of my brother and my sister-in-law Sandy, I was blessed to go on many vacations with them. I went to Hawaii, Alaska, the Caribbean, and just a year to this day we were on the Viking sailing down the Rhine River, then to Paris France.
He was very loyal to his family and friends. My children have Very fond memories Of him bringing donuts to my moms house, every Sunday. Even though my dad moved 45 minutes away he visited him every week. His love of his Life was his high school sweetheart Sandy and He would often referred to her as his beautiful bride. He was so proud of the accomplishments of his children and would brag often about them. He loved being with his grandchildren and when we talked the conversation was mainly about what one or the other did that pleased him. He was also proud of Andrew the oldest Grand child who is going to college very near to where they lived in Georgia.
My brother had a wonderful Sense of humor and could always make me laugh. I will really miss him.

I will always be grateful for having been able to work with John, particularly as a young cop. I always regarded John as a cop’s cop. He was always willing to offer advice and guidance or impart knowledge and taught by example. He was one of those go to guys who would set you straight if you needed it, but also the first to share a good laugh. My condolences to his family. I will miss him. Godspeed brother, RIP.
