BETTY LOU NORTHROP Latham-Betty Lou Northrop, 82 of Latham, beloved wife of James B. Northrop for 63 years, entered into eternal life on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at her home in Latham with her loving family at her side. Born in Wichita Kansas she was the daughter of the late Bland and Ruth Laura (Reed) Fortney. Betty Lou married her beloved James B. Northrop on October 1, 1946 and the two have shared a blessed union for their entire marriage. As a young girl growing up in the Midwest Betty Lou was a Child Radio Star performing for several Radio Programs. She was a former member of the East Greenbush Players where she performed with many Musical Theatre Productions during the 1960's. She was a dedicated volunteer at the Albany Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for over 25 years and served as president for several years. She was also a former Board Member of the Memorial Hospital Foundation. Her greatest joy in life was raising her family and being the best Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother to them all. Survivors in addition to her husband include her loving children Laura (Wayne) McGlynn of Defreestville, Jamie (Terry) Northrop of Latham, and Kimberly Northrop of Bethany, CT, She was predeceased by her daughter Deborah Riley, She is survived by her cherished grandchildren Jeffrey (Melissa) McGlynn, Christa McGlynn, Cara McGlynn, Jason Ramirez, Michael Riley, JB Northrop, Kyle Northrop, Brittany Northrop, Jenna Perrelli and Christian Perrelli, her great grandchildren Morgan McGlynn, Elise O'Boyski and Daniel McGlynn. She is also survived by her sister Sandra McCleary and nephew Randy McCleary. Funeral services will be held Tuesday October 20, 2009 at 11:00 am at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 107 State Street Albany with Rev. Paul Hartt officiating. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Monday from 4-7 p.m. at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham. Interment will be in Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands. The family wished to extend it's heartfelt appreciation for the professional care, love and comfort offered to Betty Lou from Eddy Rehabilitation Hospital in Troy, from our Private Nursing Staff (Cathleen, Denise, Karen and Sara) from Accent Healthcare (Melissa, Andrea, Sierra and Leslie) and Hospice of Rensselaer County (Pat, Ernie and Sandra) Contributions to either the Community Hospice of Rensselaer County 445 New Karner Rd.
