My deepest condolences to Christine and the kids.
I met Matt back in the early 00's, when he was a teacher at ITT Tech. He was a wonderful individual, as well as an excellent teacher, and would always bring a smile to people's faces. I was overjoyed when he finally achieved his dream of joining the game industry, and became very successful at it. We would always talk about it, and even came up with a couple of game ideas to design someday. I still can't believe he's gone...
I will miss you Matt, wherever you are. Rest in peace my friend.

I have so many fun and hilarious memories of Matt. My favorite however, was during our “glamping” trip 2 years ago. Matt purposely fell out of the golf cart I was driving and rolled across the campground just to make me look like a crazy driver! Oh the stares we got from concerned campers! I love you Matt.

Every interaction I had with Matt, even if seemingly insignificant, was always an adventure.
Matt was Art lead on Battlegrounds sitting in a silent room, and he breaks out into song causing everyone to smile. Asking for a drink not listed on the Club Rob menu and Matt disappears and reappears with all the ingredients. Playing a co-op video game with all of us piled in a car, all we had to do was drive from here to there. Matt just drives off a cliff. Going to eat at Red Robin, how did he know all those people? Thanksgiving at the Helsom's with a house full of people and Matt makes sure my son is all setup to play games on Matt's personal rig, the best seat in the house in my son's opinion. I could go on, but anyone that ever met Matt already knows that everything you did with Matt was an experience you wouldn't forget. And with Matt now gone, the world is a much duller place in more ways than one.
I can only hope that I live life to the fullest the way Matt did and make every experience, no matter how small, an adventure to remember.
I'll miss you Matt, my friend, but I will always remember all the adventures. ~Andy

Matt was many things in my life. He was my leader, he was my friend, and at times he was my fellow upstart. I had a deep admiration for him. The way Matt was unapologetically Matt was always very inspiring to me. He loved his stupid shows, and his silly train sims, and his dumb music and he really didn’t care what anyone thought. He was happy to be Matt…and I found that to be a rare and special thing. It was a strength I always respected.
Matt and I often talked about just going on a stupid adventure and opening a bar someday. He loved to mix drinks for people. He loved to see people happy. He loved to laugh and truly enjoy his life.
I will miss my friend terribly.

I worked with Matt for over 10 years. He was the lead artist on my first project, and one of the first people I met at VV. He made me feel very welcome, and his abundance of positivity made an immediate and lasting impression. I left every interaction I had with Matt with a smile on my face, even when faced with tough deadlines. He made all of us better people, and I’m so devastated that such a genuinely good person had to endure something so awful. My condolences to the family. Matt will be sorely missed.

A bright personality who sang from sheer happiness. I didn’t know him long but he was unforgettable. I’m glad I knew him, and I’m glad we even got to share a round of that MST3K classic “Idiot Control” on my last day at VV. He will be missed.

Since I’ve know him, Matt was always joyful, always laughing and singing through each day and cheering up those around him. But most importantly he was a caring person who was always looking out for his team. He will truly be missed.

I have not seen Matt since our teenage years and sadly only caught wind of his battle from another friend. Since that point have been capitivated by the story and the fight. May God Bless all that cared for him and help you find peace;especially his loving wife and beautiful children.
Rest easy Matt
