DOROTHY BUFF
Latham-Dorothy VanSleet Buff, 78 of Latham, beloved wife of Joseph F. Buff., entered into eternal life on Thursday, October 1, 2009 at Baptist Health Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Scotia with her family at her side after a short illness.
Born in Cohoes, she was the daughter of the late Raymond F. and Lena (Marcil) VanSleet. She was educated in Cohoes and was a graduate of Siena College class of 1955. She married her beloved Joseph F. Buff on June 12, 1954 and the two have shared a blessed union for over 55 years.
She worked for Siena College for many years and later a homemaker and mother caring for her children. Dorothy returned to work in 1974 for the NYS Nurses Association as a Administrative Assistant, for 17 years until retiring in 1991. She was a longtime communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Latham. Dorothy was an avid reader and loved to do crossword puzzles and watch Jeopardy. Her greatest joy was spending quality time with her family.
Survivors in addition to her husband include her loving children Joseph (Kathleen) Buff of Altamont, Dr. Christopher (Dr. Cheryl) Buff of Ballston Lake, Kathy Buff of Bloomfield, CT and Marlene Buff of Simsbury, CT, her brother Raymond (Mary) VanSleet of Latham, her cherished grandchildren Kaitlyn, Kelly, Sarah, Rachel and Daniel Buff, her in-laws Frank Buff, Louis (Kathleen) Buff, Mary (Paul) Mantica, Bernard (Roberta) Buff, Martin (Suzanne) Buff, Robert (Noreen) Buff, Michael (Rosemary) Buff, Jerome (Beverly) Buff, Susan ( William) Ciejka, Barbara Burns and Paul (Joyce) Buff. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was predeceased by her sister and best friend Joan Kelly.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday October 5, 2009 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of The Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham.
Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the staff of A-6 at Ellis Hospital and the staff of N-3 at Baptist Health Nursing & Rehabilitation Center as well as Dr. Kerry Ricker, Dr. Gregory Morra, Dr. Robert Ringler, Dr. Philip Mika and Victor Bruce P.A. for their compassionate care.
