ROBERT GEORGE KELLY
Latham-Robert George Kelly, 83 of Latham, beloved husband of Irene Bombard and the late Grace Osborn Kelly, passed away Friday, November 2, 2018 at his home in Latham surrounded by his loving family.
Born and educated in Albany he was the son of the late Frank and Josephine Zaloga Kelly, raised in Cohoes. Bob graduated from Cohoes High School and the General Electric Drafting Apprentice Program.
He worked at GE for 10 years in Schenectady and Utica as a draftsman. He started at Norton Company- Saint Gobain in Watervliet in 1963 in the Engineering Dept. and was manager of Engineering at Nashua Corp. and manager of Design Engineering at Norton Co. and retiring in 1995 as a manager in the Norton-Saint Gobain Technical Dept. Bob was the holder of 4 US Patents. He was an avid golfer and bowler. Bob was a longtime member of the Colonie Elks Lodge #2192 and instrumental in helping design the current bar area.
Survivors include his loving wife of 40 years Irene Bombard-Ploof-Kelly, his loving children Michael (Wendy) Kelly, Patrick Kelly, Barbara ( Jeffrey ) Tedesco, step-children Michele ( the late Raymond ) Haupt, Sherri (Ronald) Mutch and Todd ( Kimberly) Ploof,, his cherished grandchildren Heather (Paul) Croteau, Brandon Black, Ryan Black and Tara (Zach) Holzbauer, his adored great-grandson Colton Croteau, step-grandchildren, Carrie,(Dan) Kristin (Zack), Raymond, Ryan, Dylon, Chelsea and Hunter. step-great grandchildren Hunter, Dustin, Alexis, Christopher and Kaylee, Adeline and Lyla, his step brother John Guzy. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and his sister in law Elizabeth Kelly. He was predeceased by his grandson Bradd Kelly, his brother Francis, as well as his sister and brother in law Anna Ruth and Arthur Shutter. Bob is also survived by his canine companion Daisy.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home 149 Old Loudon Rd. Latham on Monday November 5, 2018 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Bob's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday November 6 at 10:00 am at St. Ambrose Church 347 Old Loudon Rd. Latham, NY 12110
Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands.
Donations to the American Cancer Society, 1 Penny Lane Latham, NY 12110 would be appreciated.
