Obituary of Elinor Callahan

ELINOR CALLAHAN Latham- Elinor Callahan, 85 of Latham, beloved wife of the late Gerald J. Callahan, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 26, 2018 in the comfort of her home with her loving family by her side. Born in Brooklyn on January 26, 1933, she was the daughter of the late William and Florence (McGreal) Donahue. Elinor was a Registered Nurse at Huntington Hospital in Long Island and retired in 1992 after 35 years of caring and dedicated service. She was a member of the Panama Canal Society and she truly loved to knit and crochet. She is survived by her loving children Bill (Cindy) Callahan, Laurie (Bernie) Santandrea, Michael (Dorothy) Callahan and Kathleen Callahan, nine cherished grandchildren Matthew (Stella) Callahan, Elizabeth Callahan, Thomas (Chris Repole) Callahan, Philip (Katherine) Santandrea, Rachel (Jonathan Geissler) Santandrea, Andrew, Sean, Michelle and Kevin Callahan, and two adored great grandchildren Lucas and Francesca Callahan. She is predeceased by her siblings, Kathleen Huffman and Robert Donahue. Relatives and friends are invited to call Sunday July 29 from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham. Elinor's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday July 30 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham with Fr. Geoffrey Burke officiating. Interment will take place on Tuesday July 31, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.in Calverton National Cemetery.
