JOHN "JACK" J. POULIN Latham- John "Jack" Joseph Poulin, 82 of Latham passed away peacefully on Tuesday July 24, 2018 at Van Rensselaer Manor. Jack was born on January 28, 1936 in Troy and was the son of the late Joseph H. Poulin and Helen (Cahill) Poulin. He was a 1953 graduate of Watervliet High School and Siena College in 1974. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force as a Sergeant and Senior Supply Specialist. Jack was the Owner/Operator of "Jack's Place", a tavern in Watervliet for over 19 years until 1995. He then was the Supervisor of Parking Operations at the Albany International Airport for over 10 years eventually retiring in 2001. Previously he was employed as a tire salesman for Montgomery Ward and General Tire. He also bartended at numerous fine local establishments and had fond memories of his experience working at the Colonie Coliseum. He was a parishioner at Our Lady of Assumption Church in Latham. Jack was a long-time member of the Par-Nil golf league at Western Turnpike and an active member of the Knights of Columbus and Elks. He was also the founding member of the Jack's Place Procrastinators' club and former member of the Watervliet High Dad's club. He was a proud volunteer at the Capt. John J. McKenna IV Military Courtesy room at the Albany Airport. Jack was a diehard NY Giants fan and passed his love of sports to his daughters. He enjoyed following their athletic careers and attending as many games and competitions as possible and always could be heard cheering them on. Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Margaret (Peggy) Cavanaugh Poulin, whom he met when they both performed in a Minstrel show at St. Patrick's Church in Watervliet, his loving daughters Kathleen Newell of Queensbury, Nancy Poulin of Latham, Deborah Poulin of Rexford and Amiee (late Sean) Addison of Latham; 3 cherished grandchildren Jared Newell of Queensbury, Aaron Newell of Bend, OR and Madalyn Newell of Washington, DC as well as his sister Karen (Dane) Burdick of Charlotte, NC. He is also survived by his In-laws: Marilyn (late James) Cavanaugh, Carol (late Gerald) Cavanaugh, Brian (Barbara) Cavanaugh, Mary Ellen (Frank) Anastasi, and Michael (Kathleen) Cavanaugh and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces. Jack is predeceased by his sisters Joan (late Nicholas) Buono and Barbara (Gerald Beston) Hennessy and his brother Robert (Beverly) Poulin. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Friday, July 27 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham. Jack's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday July 28 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham with Fr. Geoffrey Burke officiating.
