CARMEN F. SHAVO Latham- Carmen F. Shavo, 93 of Latham, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 8, 2018. Born in Sulmona Italy on May 31, 1925, he was the son of the late Michael and Frances (Picini) Shavo. It was in 1929 when he immigrated to the US with his family. Carmen was a graduate of Watervliet High School and then proudly served in the United States Navy, where he went to the US Naval Electrical Schools at Sampson Naval Base in Washington DC. He also served during WWII in the South Pacific on the Destroyer Miles C. Fox. Carmen was employed with the Norton-Nashua Co. in Watervliet as a Lead Electrician, retiring in 1984. He was also a member of the Troy Electrical Union. Upon his retirement he became an avid gardener. Carmen is survived by his loving brother Anthony J. (Vera) Shavo of Latham, 2 nieces, 3 nephews, 6 grandnieces and 2 grand nephews. He is predeceased by his sister Mary (Bob) Heckrotte. Services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Watervliet.
