ROBERT E. CAIRNS Latham- Robert E. (Bob) Cairns, 77, entered eternal life on June 22, 2018 at Teresian House. Born in Troy, he was the son of the late John and Margaret Dunn Cairns. He was predeceased by his sister, Margaret Cairns Lozano, and a nephew, Gary Joseph Lozano. Bob is survived by three siblings: Reverend John L. Cairns of Clifton Park, Sister Patricia Cairns, CSJ, of Watervliet, and Thomas J. Cairns of Albany. He has six nieces and nephews: James (Mary) Lozano, Sharon Lozano Montagne, Michael Lozano, Lynne (Bill) Lozano Commisso, Lisa (Dennis) Lozano Kruzinski, Erin (John) Lozano Odorisio and one niece-in-law, Wendy Lozano. Bob has twenty grand nieces and nephews and one great grandnephew. Bob was a graduate of Vincentian Institute and the Culinary Institute of America. His professional career involved every aspect of the food business including fine dining, banquets, and entertainment management. He owned and/or operated several local restaurants among them The Shamrock, The First Step, Buckshots BBQ, and The Cattle Crossing. Bob was a member of the United States Air Force Reserve and the Air National Guard. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Tech Sergeant. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #3394 in Latham. He loved flying single engine planes, sports and travel. Bob was a "people person" who easily related well to all whom he met. His caring manner enabled him to touch the lives of many in need. His humor and unparalleled wit were contagious. People liked his company. He will be dearly missed by family, relatives and friends. May his soul rest peacefully in the loving arms God. Services are private with burial to be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy.
