HELEN D. NIGHTINGALE
Latham- Helen D. Nightingale, 87 of Latham, beloved wife of C. Thomas Nightingale III, passed away peacefully on Monday March 19, 2018 at Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home in Albany.
Born in Waterbury CT. on July 14, 1930, she was the daughter of the late George J. and Mary C. (Conley) Donovan. Helen married C. Thomas Nightingale III on February 6, 1954 in Naugatuck, CT and was blessed with 63 wonderful years prior to her passing. She received her B.S. from the College of New Rochelle and an M.S. in Elementary Education from Russell Sage College in Troy where she also received her second M.S. in Special Education.
Helen was a School Teacher employed with the Menands School District in Menands for many years prior to her retirement. She was a longtime communicant of St. Ambrose Church in Latham.
In addition to her beloved husband, she is survived by her loving children: Charles T. (Denise) Nightingale IV of Latham, James (Jean) Nightingale of Clifton Park and Katharine (Jake Haker) Nightingale of North River, NY as well as her eight cherished grandchildren: C. Thomas (Niki) Nightingale V, Lauren (John Davis) Nightingale, Matthew Nightingale, Hannah (Sean) Nolan, Lydia Nightingale, Zachary (Carmen) Nightingale, Matthew (Katelyn) Haker and Corinn Haker and adored great grandchildren: Knox Nolan, Hazel Nolan, Ransom Nolan and Jonathan Davis.
She was predeceased by her sister: Mary Margaret McSherry
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Friday March 23, 2018 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham
Helen's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday March 24, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. in St. Ambrose Church, 347 Old Loudon Road, Latham with Pastor Rev. Brian Kelly officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Bishops Appeal, 40 North Main Avenue, Albany, NY 12203 or to the Regional Food Bank of Northeast NY, 965 Albany Shaker Road, Latham, NY 12110
Interment will take place in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck, CT. at the convenience of the family.
