NANCY KAMINSKI
Latham- Nancy Kaminski, 54 of Latham, passed away peacefully on Friday August 7, at Community Hospice Inn At St. Peter's in Albany. Born in Brooklyn on November 4, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Santos and Otilia (Torres) Crespo.
She attended the prestigious Washington Irving High School for the Arts in New York City and achieved a Bachelor of Elementary Education from Brooklyn College.
A gifted artist and muralist Nancy operated her own mural business as well as being a dedicated employee working with special needs children at Southgate School in the North Colonie School District. She regularly contributed her talents to set design and painting for school plays, local theater productions and the Vanguard Designer Showcase House.
Besides being a unique creative talent and immensely caring individual, Nancy was an avid traveler with her family and visited Europe, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central America numerous times contributing to her artistic and cultural make up. Even as she was courageously battling her condition, she was looking forward to a planned trip to include Costa Rica and its color possibilities.
She is survived by her loving husband of 31 years, George, who she met 35 years ago when they were students at Brooklyn College. She was the cherished mother of Monica and David, loving sister of Doris (Martinez, CA) and sister-in -law of Carlos, and proud aunt to Darcy and Kelsy. She is also survived by her brother Sendy (Flushing, NY), sister-in-law Rebecca and aunt to Christina and Christopher.
She leaves much loved cousins, relatives, friends, mother-in-law Josie and others who were privileged to be touched by her caring and generous nature.
Her family wishes to thank all the staff at New York Oncology and Hematology for the caring and assistance over the long courageous fight and to Community Hospice for the care in the final days of her battle.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call Monday August 10 from 5-7 pm at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, Ltd., 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham, NY. A celebration of Nancy's Life will be held at 7:00 pm immediately following the visitation
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in her memory to Hospice of Albany.
