Obituary of Lillian M. Vierling

LILLIAN M. VIERLING Latham-Lillian Vierling, 91, passed away suddenly at home on December 18, 2017. Lillian was born June 15, 1926 in Albany NY. She was the daughter of the late Albert F. Riley and Mary (Coogan) Riley. She was the devoted wife for 62 years of the late Arthur G. Vierling who passed away in 2013. Lillian was the devoted mother of Arthur G. (Mary Lynn) Vierling of Estero, FL, Michael P. Vierling of Watervliet, NY and James R. (Eileen) Vierling of Waterford, NY. She was the cherished grandmother of Melissa A. Vierling of Fairfax VA, Christopher A. Vierling of Chicago IL, Thomas M. Vierling of Waterford NY and Mary T. Vierling of Worcester MA. She is predeceased by two brothers, Albert and William Riley, and three sisters, Anna and Mary Riley, and Elizabeth (Riley) Rohl. Lillian graduated from Cathedral High School and worked for National Commercial Bank and Trust Company. She later worked for many years at Niagara Mohawk Federal Credit Union, retiring in 1988. Lillian enjoyed traveling, baking and family gatherings. She was a member of the Niagara Mohawk Pension Club East and enjoyed social events at the Colonie Elks Lodge 2192. Lil was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Latham NY and of the Rosary Alter Society. Relatives and friends may call Thursday Dec 21st from 3 to 6pm at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 old Loudon Road, Latham NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Friday Dec 22nd at Our Lady of the Assumption Church 498 Watervliet-Shaker Rd. Latham, with Rev. Geoffrey Burke officiating. Memorial Contributions may be made to Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Latham, NY. Interment will be next to her husband Arthur in St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands.
