LYDA LEZZI
Latham- Lyda (Attanasio) Lezzi, 98 of Latham passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Tuesday October 24, 2017.
Born in Schenectady on September 7, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Carmella (Parisi) Attanasio. After the death of her mother, Lyda, a young infant was raised by her Aunt Victoria and Uncle Joseph DeLando and their two loving daughters, Sylvia and Edith DeLando who predeceased Lyda. She graduated from Nott Terrace High School in 1937. It was on October 20, 1940 that she married Patrick D. Lezzi and the two had shared a blessed union of almost 61 years prior to his passing in August 2001.
Lyda was a loving and dedicated homemaker who tended to her family's needs with the utmost of priority and care and they were the center of her life. She enjoyed many things including Home Bureau, Cooperative Extension, Swimming at the Y.W.C.A, sewing and cooking. She and Patrick enjoyed many years at their summer home on Sacandaga Lake, 30 years at the Lake George RV Park and 25 years wintering in Florida.
She also enjoyed riding on the back of Patrick's motorcycle and snowmobiling. Lyda was a lifetime member of the Blue Creek Garden Club, was a communicant at daily mass and was formerly a eucharistic minister. Her most precious moments later in life were visiting her loving grandchildren and great grandchildren in Charlotte, NC and Deluth, MN.
She is survived by her loving daughters: Patricia Lezzi of Schenecatdy and Janet D'Allaird of Watervliet. Four cherished grandchildren: Dr. Daniel (Kristina) D'Allaird, Scott D'Allaird, Kevin (Whitney) D'Allaird and Michael Bonagur, Six adored grandchildren: Tyler, Matthew, Alexandra, Tucker, Hayden and Adelaide "Addie"D'Allaird.
She is predeceased by her siblings: Anna Mae Longe, Margaret Micco, John Attanasio and Prosper Attanasio.
Lyda's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday October 28, 2017 at 10:00 am at St. Ambrose Church, 347 Old Loudon Road, Latham with Fr. Brian Kelly officiating.
In lieu of flowers, please donate in Lyda's memory to a charity of one's choice.
Interment will take place next to her husband in St. John's Cemetery, Schenectady.
