Obituary of Robert A. Simpson

ROBERT A. SIMPSON Latham- Robert A. Simpson, 70 of Latham passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 1, 2017 in the comfort of his home with his loving family by his side. Born in Rochester on December 17, 1946, he was the son of the late Arthur and Mary (Kavanaugh) Simpson and brother of the late Mary Jane Alexander. Bob was predeceased by his wife of 35 years, Gloria 'Mimi" Lawrence who passed away on September 28, 2004. He was married to the former Anna Trela whom he shared a union of 8 years prior to his passing. In addition to his wife Anna, he is survived by his children Robert (Denise) Simpson of Loudonville, Timothy (Amanda) Simpson of Atlanta, Amanda (Matt) Harpring of Atlanta, William (Cody) Simpson of Round Lake, Christopher Simpson of Atlanta and Steven Simpson of Latham. Bob was the "B-Pa" to 12 cherished grandchildren. Bob's family was the center of his life and his utmost priority Bob was a graduate of St. John Fisher College and Georgetown University Law School. He worked for the Public Service Commission of NY in Albany for 34 years, most recently serving as Deputy Commissioner. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday October 4, 2017 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham. Bob's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday October 5 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Bob's memory to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center P.O. Box 5028, Hagerstown, MD. 21741-5028 Interment will take place in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
