Obituary of Elizabeth "Betty" Waltersdorf

ELIZABETH WALTERSDORF Latham- Elizabeth "Betty" Waltersdorf, 87 of Latham, beloved wife of James J. Waltersdorf, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 in the comfort of her home with her loving family by her side. Born in Troy on February 24, 1930, she was the daughter of the late John and Rita Frances (Fitzpatrick) Dooley. She was a 1948 graduate of Catholic Central High School. Betty was married to Jim on June 18, 1949 and the two had shared a loving and blessed union of 68 years prior to her passing. Betty was a realtor with the Moffat Hollis Realty Company in Latham for over 20 years. She was a member of the North Colonie PTA. She also enjoyed playing cards especially bridge. Betty was an avid reader, enjoyed watching QVC and trips to the Saratoga Race Track and Racino. Mom had a beautiful smile and a twinkle in her eye, all expressive of her free spirit. She loved the company of her friends, enjoying many a night's cocktail parties where it was "adult hour", no children allowed. There were many fun times while in Lake George with her family, or in Florida where she and Jimmy wintered. Mom was fun and full of laughter and man was her laugh ever a good one! Her vibrant energy lives on in her many children, grandchildren and great grandchildren leaving a large and lasting legacy. In addition to her loving husband Jim, she is survived by her loving children: James J. (Bridget) Waltersdorf Jr, John G. Waltersdorf, Daniel D. (Mary Ellen) Waltersdorf, Robert F. Waltersdorf, Kathleen R. (Late Frank) Gilboy and Jane Elizabeth (fiancé Arnold Shamus) Kingsley as well as 14 cherished grandchildren, 16 adored great grandchildren; her Sister: Rita Sheeran and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her siblings: Mary Burns, Donald Dooley and Jane Dooley. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Friday July 28, 2017 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham. Betty's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday July 29, 2017 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 385 Watervliet Shaker Road, Latham with Fr. Geoffrey Burke officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Betty's memory to Catholic Central High School, 625 Seventh Avenue, Troy, NY 12182.
