EDWARD M. LEITGEB Latham- Edward M. Leitgeb, 71 of Latham, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at the Teresian House, in Albany. Born in Troy on April 1, 1944, he was the son of the late Edward C. and Eleanor (O'Donnell) Leitgeb. He graduated from Husson College in Bangor Maine with a Bachelor's Degree and also received a two year degree in Business Administration from Canton College of Technology. Edward proudly served in the United State Air Force where he was a staff sergeant and received awards as Non-commissioned Officer of the Year and Airman of the Year at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, Kansas. Edward was a Claims Examiner with the New York State Department of Audit and Control in Albany for over 30 years. He loved horse racing, was a former racquetball player and an avid New York Giants fan. He was also a communicant of St. Ambrose Church in Latham. Edward is survived by his loving siblings; Sharon L. (Richard) Hoffman of Latham and Dr. James L. (Diane) Leitgeb of Victor, NY and was the devoted uncle to; Justin (Lori) Leitgeb, Alyssa (Josh) Heine, Kelly Hoffman and Matthew John Hoffman (deceased). He was also the great uncle to; Natalie, Ian and Winslow. A special thank you to the staff of the Teresian House especially Lori Porter, Andrea Hewitt, Joan Howland, Deborah Tafilowski, Amira Alivodoc and Kelly Hawver and also to his caregiver Gert Hall, for the wonderful care and compassion they gave to Ed. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Friday, February 26, 2016 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham. Ed's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 10:00 am at the Teresian House, 200 Washington Avenue Extension, Albany with Fr. Jeffrey L'Arche officiating. Interment will take place in St. John's Cemetery, Troy.
