JOSEPH A. LASPISA Clifton Park- Joseph A. LaSpisa, 86, of Clifton Park passed away peacefully on Friday, October 9, 2015 in the comfort of his home. Born in New York City on November 22, 1928, he was the son of the late Joseph J. and Alma L. Smith LaSpisa. Joe proudly served during both World War II and the Korean War in the United States Air Force serving in Germany with the 317the troop carrier supporting the Berlin Air Lift. He also served with the 8th photo squadron in Japan during the Korean Conflict. He was a 1956 graduate of the SUNY College of Forestry. Joe was the General Parks Superintendent with the NYS Dept. of Environmental Conservation for 30 years from 1965 until 1995 before retiring and was a member of the American Legion Post 0001 in Ballston Spa He is predeceased by his two wives; Mary Edith (Simmons) LaSpisa and Carolyn (Knott Barthel) LaSpisa. He is survived by his sons: Joseph (Kathy) A. LaSpisa Jr. of Ashland, MA and John M. LaSpisa of Ballston Spa and his two grandsons: Joseph III and Stephen LaSpisa as well as his sister Anita Fries of WA. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 from 4-7 pm at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 10:00 am at the funeral home with Pastor Robert Long officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Peaceful Acres, 3740 Rynex Corners Rd, Pattersonville, NY 12137. Interment will take place in Ballston Spa Village Cemetery, Ballston Spa.
