Obituary of Andrew O. Walthers

Walthers, Andrew O. Schenectady- Andrew O. Walthers, 87, lived most of his life in Latham, and a short period in East Greenbush, then moved to Schenectady to be closer to his family. Andrew passed away peacefully at Kingsway Arms Nursing Home in Schenectady on September 9, 2008. He was born in Pennsylvania on January 5, 1921, son of the late Elda L. Anderson, and Andrew O. Walthers. Andy served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Worked for G.E. for 41 years, was a member of the G.E. Quarter Century Club. Andy was a Life member of the S.W. Pitts Fire Department in Latham, the longest tenured member at 60 years, as well as the oldest living member. Andy is survived by his children, Andrew C. (Linda) Walthers, Carolyn J. (Tony) Langille, Charles J. (Joy), Walthers, & William W. (Beverly) Walthers, Step children include: Joan (Rick) Slish, Clayton (Mary Jean) Willsey. He is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren & one great-great grandchild, several nieces & nephews. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Evelyn Herrington, brother Carl Anderson and step son Jodi (Liz) Herrington. A Celebration of Andrews Life will be held on Friday September 12 at 10:00 am at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham. Rev. David Bissett will officiate. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Thursday September 11 from 4-7 pm Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
