Latham- Robert B. Fletcher, 89, formerly of Latham, beloved husband of the late Eileen C. Murphy Fletcher, died Monday, November 3, 2008 at Evergreen Commons, in East Greenbush. Born and educated in Troy, he was the son of the late Robert Bethell Fletcher and Charlotte (Baxter) Fletcher. Bob was a graduate of Troy High School and joined the United States Army in 1941 serving in World War II until 1945. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star. He worked for the New York Telephone Company for over 39 years in the service department and retired in 1980 and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He was a Latham resident for over 35 years and moved to Ellenton Florida in 1986. While in Florida he was a member of the Holy Cross Church where he was active in the 55rs Club. He was a member of the K of C #7414 and the B.P.O.E. #2449 both in Palmetto FL, the American Legion Post #24 in Bradenton FL, and the Loyal Order of Moose #2188. Bob returned to the Latham area 8 years ago and was a member of the Colonie Elks Lodge #2192 and the Latham Colonie K of C #3394. Survivors include his loving children Christine S. (Willis) Wolfe, Robert B. (Catherine) Fletcher Jr. and William F. (Michelle) Fletcher as well as five cherished grandchildren Kelly (Kevin) Onorato, Caitlin Fletcher, Robert Fletcher III, Christina Fletcher and William Fletcher , his brother in law J. Joseph (Virginia) Murphy of Plattsburgh. He was predeceased by his brother Frederick J. Fletcher Sr. and sister Marguerite Fay. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 9:00 am in Our Lady of The Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham with Rev. Geoffrey Burke officiating. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, Ltd., 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham. Memorial Contributions in Bob's memory can be made to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd., Loudonville, NY 12211 Interment Memory's Garden, Colonie.
