NAPIA Members:
It is with profound sadness that I inform you of the passing of Rosario "Sal" Ilacqua.
Sal died this morning (December 11) in a New York City hospital of heart failure.
'My pal Sal', was also 'my pal Sal', to many, many of you. Sal was one of the best known,
and best liked analysts in the petroleum analyst community. He was a Founder of NAPIA,
its third President, a Director for many years, and an Honorary Life Member. He was a co-author
of the first 'Oil Analysts . . A Historical Perspective', tracing the beginnings of the oil analyst profession through 1989, then authored the follow-up Part II through 1999. A dedicated, professional oil analyst he remained 'at his post', as he was wont to say, until last Thursday when he went to hospital. Sal was a fixture
in our profession and few carried the flag more proudly or personably than Sal. He will be sorely missed.
Sal was employed at Monness, Crespi, Hardt & Co. in New York since 2000, and before that spent many years at Rothschilds, Inc. A family service will be held at his hometown in Albany, NY, and a memorial service in New York City in the new year.
