Phyllis Caraynoff Obituary

LATHAM - Phyllis R. Caraynoff, 98 of Latham, passed away peacefully July 31st, 2026 at The Terrace at Eddy Memorial in Troy.


Born April 21, 1928 in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Rose (Allegretti) Vignola. Phyllis was a graduate of Cathedral Academy and Mildred Elley College.


Phyllis worked as a Pharmacy Technician for Loudon Pharmacy in Albany for several years. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Latham.


Phyllis is survived by her sons, Michael (Cheryl) Caraynoff of Channahon, Illinois and Robert J. (Cathy) Caraynoff of Alsip, Illinois. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Kelly Caraynoff-Huber, Tiffany Farkas, Robert Caraynoff Jr. and Carrie White, six great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Alex, Brayden, Vivian, Mason and Landyn and one great great grandchild Lincoln, along with her nieces Judy Reynolds and Catherine Salerni and her nephew James Malone. Phyllis was blessed with many devoted friends including Barbara Micare, Terri Lizzi and Karen Croteau and her devoted neighbors, Tim and Shelly Whitelaw.


Phyllis was predeceased by her loving companion, John E. Schlindwein as well as her sister, Teresa Malone.


Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Thursday, August 6th, 2026 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet Shaker Rd., Latham. The Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow the visitation and be celebrated in the main church.


Interment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Phyllis' memory to the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Albany, 595 Loudon Road #162, Latham, NY 12110.
