LATHAM – Thomas A. Englat, Jr., of Citrus Hills, Florida and Latham, New York, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2026. He was born on June 3, 1949, in Cohoes, New York, the beloved son of the late Thomas A. Englat and Elizabeth (Casey) Englat.

Tom shared 44 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Kathleen A. (Tromblee) Englat, until her passing in 2014. Their marriage was built on love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to family. Together they raised two children, Bridget Murray (Sean) and Matthew Englat (Mary Kate), who were the pride of his life. Tom also forever carried in his heart the memory of the twin boys he and Kathleen lost before they could be welcomed into the world, whose brief lives remained a cherished part of their family's story.

His greatest joy came from being "PopPop" to his four grandchildren, Rylan Murray, Gavan Murray, Benjamin Englat, and Camden Englat. Whether it was taking them out to lunch, cheering them on from the sidelines at sporting events, attending school activities, or simply spending time together, Tom treasured every opportunity to be part of their lives.

He is also survived by his beloved sister, Sandra Fazackerley (Paul). Tom and Paul shared a bond that extended far beyond friendship—they were truly like brothers. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart.

Later in life, Tom was blessed to find love again with his fiancée, Jane Turner, with whom he shared a wonderful life in Citrus Hills, Florida. He embraced Jane's family as his own and cherished the close relationships he formed with her son, Jason Kois (Tonya), and daughter, Jamie Kois (Cindy).

A proud United States Army veteran, Tom served his country honorably from 1969 to 1976, attaining the rank of Specialist. He loved his country deeply and carried tremendous pride in his military service throughout his life. One of his lifelong dreams was to visit Normandy to honor those who served before him—a dream he fulfilled just last year, making the journey one of the most meaningful experiences of his life. Following his military service, Tom enjoyed a successful career as an engineer starting with Adirondack Steel, later Ross Valve, and eventually Umicore Technical Materials in Glens Falls, where he would retire from after years of dedicated service.

Tom embraced every opportunity to enjoy life. He loved traveling, spending time with family and friends in both New York and Florida, and making memories wherever he went. An avid boater, some of his happiest days were spent on beautiful Lake George, whether at his sister's cabin in Bolton Landing or visiting his son's home in Gull Bay. Holidays, especially Christmas, were treasured occasions filled with traditions, laughter, and family gatherings that he looked forward to every year.

An animal lover, Tom adored his faithful dog, Jazzabell, and loved spending time with his granddogs, King and Gullie, who always brought a smile to his face.

Tom will be remembered for his kind heart, unwavering patriotism, quiet strength, infectious smile, and his remarkable ability to make those around him feel loved and welcomed. More than anything else, he will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, partner, and friend whose greatest happiness came from the people he loved. His family finds comfort knowing that Tom is now reunited with Kathleen, his parents, and the twin boys he carried in his heart throughout his life.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Monday, August 3, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ambrose Church, 347 Old Loudon Road, Latham.
