LATHAM - Beatrice Jane Meehan, 94, of Latham, beloved wife of the late Charles J. Meehan, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2026, at Shaker Place Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Albany, with her loving family at her side.
Born on July 24, 1931, in Cohoes, New York, Jane was the daughter of the late John and Beatrice (Hewitt) Sheehy. Jane was a graduate of Watervliet High School. Following graduation, she worked for a time with the New York Telephone Company before dedicating herself to raising her six children and embracing her cherished role as "Mom." Later in life, Jane worked as a library clerk at the William K. Sanford Town Library in Loudonville.
Jane was an avid reader and enjoyed sports, especially cheering on her children, grandchildren, and later great-grandchildren at their many activities and events. A parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Latham, her faith and family were central to her life, and her family meant the world to her.
Jane is survived by her loving children, Marsha M. Tierney (Michael), Patrick C. Meehan (Patricia), Michael J. Meehan (Loren), Charles J. Meehan (Christine), and Jane P. Meehan; her beloved eleven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
In addition to her beloved husband and parents, Jane was predeceased by her son, Christopher J. Meehan; her grandson, Jacob Meehan; her sister, Anne Marie Sheehy; her brother, John Sheehy (late Joan); and her in-laws, Arne and Marilyn Heggen, James and Betty Murphy, and James and Frances Casserly.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend services on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet Shaker Rd, Latham. Visitation will take place in the chapel from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass in the main church beginning at 11:30 a.m., celebrated by Reverend Thomas Fallati. Interment beside her late husband will immediately follow at Saratoga National Cemetery.
