MAPLEWOOD - Rose Mary Mochrie, age 77, of Maplewood, New York, passed away suddenly on May 15, 2026.

Rose was a dedicated professional who spent many years helping others, eventually retiring from the VA Medical Center with her very close friends Barb and Paula. While she was proud of her career, her greatest joy and ultimate legacy was her family. She was a kind, loving matriarch who successfully raised three loving children and a granddaughter, pouring her heart into her family and anyone who entered it.

Those who knew Rose knew she loved to live life to the fullest. She was a fixture at the bingo halls back in the day with her sisters and enjoyed playing slots with her daughter, always chasing the next adventure with a smile. She had a love for music and treasured every moment spent with her family, including her dear friend, Susan Leunig, whether they were relaxing doing puzzles, silly girls weekends or taking memorable trips up to Maine to see live music. Above all, Rose loved her daily routine of looking after her beloved grand-dog, Muncie, who brought immense joy in her later years.

Rose has gone to be reunited with her beloved husband of 60 years, Rick Mochrie, who preceded her in death in 2018.

She leaves behind a family who adored her and will miss her every single day: her three children, Richard L. Mochrie Jr., Brian K. Mochrie, and Stacey L. Leunig; her son-in-law, Steven E. Leunig; her cherished granddaughter, Ashley J. Boisen; her loyal grand-dog, Muncie, her sister Sharon Rockenstyre and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Thursday, May 21, 2026 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at The Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham. A brief prayer service beginning at 6:45 PM will conclude the evening's services.
