Anthony P. "Tony" DeChiro Jr. Obituary

LOUDONVILLE - Anthony "Tony" P. DeChiro Jr. of Loudonville passed away at home on April 5th, 2026 after a courageous battle with esophageal cancer. Anthony was born on September 22, 1932 in Waterford, New York, and was the son of the late Anthony DeChiro and Mary (DeBlasis) DeChiro.

Anthony grew up in Cohoes, was a graduate of La Salle Institute in Troy, and received a bachelor's degree in economics from Siena College in 1953. Anthony proudly served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955. Based in Washington D.C., he was assigned to the Presidential Honor Guard. After being discharged he was employed as a manager at Shaker Ridge and Schuyler Meadows Country Clubs from 1955 to 1974. Tony then began a second career as an auditor at the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance until his retirement in 1995.

Anthony was a longtime supporter and fan of Siena basketball. He and his wife Judy attended many games over the years both at home and on the road. It was a joyful occasion this March when he was able to watch his beloved Saints nearly beat Duke in the NCAA Tournament. In addition to basketball, he was an avid New York Yankees fan for almost his entire life. He loved playing golf, was a member of the ADO golf league and enjoyed numerous golf trips over the years, including memorable ones to Scotland and Ireland with his golf buddies. He and Judy spent many happy days at their vacation home on Cape Cod and enjoyed visits to Italy, Ireland and England. One of Tony's greatest joys was spending time with his friends, whether it be the Wednesday lunch bunch at Otis and Olivers, trips to the Saratoga Racetrack in the summer, Saturday afternoons at OTB, or just sharing a glass of wine and some good conversation. He had a wonderful sense of humor and an infectious laugh, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Anthony's family extends their gratitude to The Community Hospice for their compassionate care, and to his loyal friends for their support and visits over the past several months.

Anthony is survived by his loving wife Judith, sons Mark DeChiro (Mary Jane), Paul DeChiro (Norma), sister-in-law Susan Adams, several cousins, and many special friends. In addition to his late parents, he is predeceased by his brother John DeChiro.
