John Keevern Obituary

CLIFTON PARK - John Keevern, 95 of Clifton Park, beloved husband of the late Marie A. Keevern, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2026 at The Eddy Heritage House in Troy with his family at his side.


Born June 7, 1930 in Watervliet, he was the son of the late John J. and Mary (Mihalko) Keevern. He proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean War from 1951 to 1954. John married the former Marie A. Dorfner on May 14, 1955 and the two cherished a blessed and loving union of 58 years before her passing on January 20, 2014.


John worked as a Lab Technician with General Electric in Waterford for 34 years, retiring in 1990. He was also a former member of the American Legion Post #1450 in Halfmoon. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and had a special love for the Adirondacks, especially his beloved camp in Newcomb. Second (or first) to his love of the Adirondacks, was his love for his NY Mets.


John is survived by his four loving children Michael (Lorri) Keevern, William (Denise) Keevern, Julia (Will) Cook, and Marie Anne (Tom) Occhiogrosso, five grandchildren Brian (Suzanne), Christopher, Elisabeth (Michael), Shaun (Marjorie), and Timothy (Lauren), as well as six great-grandchildren William, Christian, Adalie, Kiera, Ozias, and Shiloh (and soon to be born, Adam), and his many loving nieces and nephews.


He is predeceased by his sister Eleanor Reiser, his brother David Keevern, and his granddaughter Lynn Marie Cook.


Relatives & Friends are invited and may call on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at The Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham.


A funeral service celebrating John's life will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, 10:00 AM also at The Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home.


Interment with military honors will take place at Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.


Due to cemetery floral regulations, memorial contributions may be made in John's memory to Newcomb Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, PO Box 98, Newcomb, NY 12852.
