William M. Sheridan Jr. Obituary

RENSSELAER - William Matthew Sheridan, Jr., 60, of Rensselaer, NY, passed away suddenly on March 31, 2026.


Born on August 18, 1965, he was the son of Elizabeth (Greenhalgh) Winchester and the late William M. Sheridan, Sr. Bill was raised in East Greenbush and was a graduate of Columbia High School, Class of 1984.


Bill was employed as an environmental services worker at Eddy Hawthorne Ridge, where he truly loved his work, the residents, and his coworkers. His dedication and compassion did not go unnoticed—he was recently honored with the St. Peter's Health Partners Spirit Award.


Outside of work, Bill was an avid fisherman who enjoyed spending time on the water, and he had a passion for dirt racing. Above all else, he cherished time with his family.


He will be eternally missed and forever cherished by those who knew and loved him.


In addition to his mother, Elizabeth Winchester, Bill is survived by his three children, Shelby Lasch (Patrick), Micayla Sheridan (Eric), and William Sheridan III; his two brothers, Jeff and Michael Sheridan; his two grandchildren, Lucas and Kylie; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.


Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at The Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham. A prayer service will follow at 1:00 p.m.


Interment will take place immediately following the service at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna.
