ELAINE MCCABE

WATERVLIET – Elaine McCabe, 96 of Watervliet, beloved wife of the late Charles J. McCabe, passed away Monday, March 30, 2026 at Shaker Place Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, in Albany with her family at her side.

Born in Watervliet, NY on November 17, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Jeannette (LaCross) Ogden. She married Charles J. McCabe on May 8, 1949 at Sacred Heart of Mary Church in Watervliet. She attended Watervliet schools and would go on to work several jobs throughout her career: data entry for NYS Mental Health Dept, assistant manager with Candia Knitters in Latham, and associate for Topps Grocery in Menands. Her most cherished role however was that of dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her beloved family.

Elaine is survived by her children Charles (Patty) McCabe, Mark (Helen) McCabe, and Elaine (George) Kaminsky, twelve grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she is predeceased by her brothers William (Kay), Edward (Virginia), and Charles (May) Ogden, her beloved sister Theresa Ogden, as well as her son Thomas McCabe and grandchildren Collin Cavanaugh McCabe and Meghan McCabe.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral mass on Monday, April 6, 2026, 10:00 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, 2416 7th Ave., Watervliet, NY. Interment to follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
