Anne W. Mashuta Obituary

ANNE W. MASHUTA

LATHAM - Anne Wheeler Mashuta, 92, of Latham, beloved wife of the late Alexander "Al" Mashuta, died peacefully in her home on March 25, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late William Wheeler and Anna May Green Wheeler and was educated in her home town of Cohoes. Anne had two beloved sisters, the late Ellen Myers of Cohoes and the late Grace Kwazneski of Halfmoon and they grew up enjoying the Cohoes community, their family camp on the Mohawk River and roller skating at Guptill's Arena. Anne met the love of her life, "Al" Mashuta of Schenectady, at Guptill's Arena and they were married 54 years until his death in 2006.

Anne was a home-maker and dedicated her life to her family. Anne was a loving and generous mother to her two beloved daughters – Debra Alexander (Ed Kreinheder) and Ellen Livingston (Roger). She had a very special relationship with her two son-in-laws. She was the best Nana to her three grandchildren – Kerstin Provost, the late Lt. Colonel Bernard Provost and Kara Livingston. She gave her grandchildren so many magical memories and she continued the traditions with her great-grandchildren whom she adored – Joe Berben, Jameson, Myles and Claire Livingston-Rogers. So many years were spent at Nana and Pop's house, eating delicious meals that Anne cooked and enjoying summer days by their pool. Anne was the matriarch of the family and together with Al, they created a lasting legacy of love that is held dear by their family.

Anne was an extremely talented artist, crafter, gardener and baker. She loved planting beautiful gardens, especially around her pool. She hosted many crafting events for her grandchildren and made holidays very special. She made stunning wreaths, drawings and loved to beautify anything she could find. Anne was a kind soul and was always there for family.

Anne's love extended to many other friends and family. Her best friend, the late Grace Lennon of Mechanicville, was considered another sister and the time they spent together and laughs they shared were some of her most treasured moments. She also cherished her time with Cynthia Lennon Holmes of Niskayuna, whom she considered another daughter. Our family would like to thank her for all of her support and care-giving throughout Anne's life as well as her loving dedication to Anne's beautiful gardens when she could no longer do it. She loved and appreciated the friendship of her beloved aunt, the late Jo Green of Scotia and her sweet cat, Abby, who passed a few years ago. She is also survived by many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family, dear friends, and grand-pets. We would like to thank another dear friend, Maria Simmons of Loudonville, who helped care for Anne for the last two years of her life and offered our family so much support. We would like to offer special thanks to the 5th floor Pavilion nursing staff of Samaritan Hospital and the Community Hospice of the Capital District for their guidance and loving care, giving her the gift to pass at home.
