JOAN WARNE


HALFMOON - Joan Warne, 86, of Halfmoon, New York, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026, at Albany Medical Center.


Born on May 14, 1939, in Staten Island, New York, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Adelaide (Clark) Wheeler.


Joan earned her associate's degree in childcare from Staten Island College and went on to dedicate much of her life to caring for others, both within her family and her community. She was an avid reader and enjoyed bowling, playing cards—especially poker—and expressing her creativity through painting and various arts and crafts. Joan was especially known for the beautiful handmade blankets she lovingly created and gifted to her family. She also served as a Girl Scout leader and was a devoted Catholic and parishioner of St. Ambrose Church in Latham.


Joan is survived by her loving children, Robert Warne, Jr. (Patricia) and Nancy Robinson (Matthew). She is predeceased by her son, Gregory Warne, and his former wife, Eileen Shapiro-Warne. The youngest of eight children, Joan is also predeceased by her seven siblings, Mary, William, Adelaide, Ann, Gertrude, Rose, and Delphine.


Joan is further survived by her cherished grandchildren, Melanie, David, Adam, Robert, Victoria, Christine, and Kaitlyn; her great-grandchildren, Richard, Bryson, Julian, and Gemma; as well as several nieces and nephews.


Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Ambrose Church, 347 Old Loudon Road, Latham, New York, followed by a funeral Mass beginning at 11:00 a.m.
