Mary Margaret Coleman Obituary

HUDSON, FL / LATHAM, NY - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing to Eternal Life of Mary Margaret Coleman at the age of 94. Mary died peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her family on December 24, 2025. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and a quiet strength that will live on through generations.

Mary was born and raised in Troy, NY. A devoted wife and partner she was married to Thomas Coleman for 45 years until his passing in 1995. After Tom’s passing she moved to Hudson, FL and resided there for 30 years before returning to Albany last year. Mary and Tom were blessed with 6 children including two sets of twins.

In addition to her late parents and husband, she was predeceased by her eldest sons Tom and David, her grandson Tom Coleman, her sister Elizabeth Connally, and her great-grandsons Jarin Snyder and Nicholas Snyder, each of whom she carried in her heart throughout her life.

Mary is survived by 4 of her children: Kathleen (Howard) Cynamon, James (Mary) Coleman, Mary (Charles) Elwell, and John (Mary Jean) Coleman as well as her 2 daughters-in law Karen Coleman and Theresa Coleman. She is also survived by 24 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom were a great source of immense pride and joy. She was none too quick to tell those she met how many of each she was blessed with.

Lastly, she is survived by her dear sister-in-law, Mary Colaneri, with whom she spoke to regularly during the last weeks and months, a relationship that brought her great comfort and connection.

Known for her vibrant social life, Mary had a social appointment calendar that kept track of her comings and goings including her weekly dominoes game on Sundays, her weekly bingo games on Wednesdays, and any and all parties at her club house. She also loved to travel with those adventures taking her to Colorado to visit family, Alaska, England, Ireland, Italy and Japan.

Mary’s greatest legacy is the love she felt for her children, grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She had an uncanny ability to remember names dates and birthdays of each of them.

Her Faith was her source of strength and guided her throughout her life. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
