Martin G. "Marty" Dale Obituary

MARTIN G. DALE

REXFORD - Martin George Dale, formerly of Hyde Park, NY, entered into the Lord's peace after a short illness on Sunday, November 2, 2025, in the presence of his loving family. Martin was a devoted husband to Karen, his wife of 64 years, and a loving father to Marty Jr. (Therese) of Clifton Park and Annette (Bill) Segarra of Latham. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren Marty III, Kevin, Nick, Maddi, Sabrina, and Emily, whom he loved deeply.

Martin was born in Catskill, NY on August 2, 1938, the only child of Lars Magnus Dale and Ruth DeLaMotta Dale. After graduating from Saugerties High School in 1956, Martin went on to Clarkson University, earning a degree in Civil Engineering. This led to a long, fulfilling career as Resident Engineer for NYS Department of Transportation in Poughkeepsie, NY, until his retirement in 1991. In 1959, he met Karen Lewis. They married in 1961, and settled in Hyde Park, and went on to have their two children Marty Jr. and Annette. It was clear to anyone who knew him that Karen was the light of his life. His love for and dedication to her was truly something to behold.

Martin loved spending time outdoors, whether it was simply working in the yard, fishing the Esopus, traveling with Karen, or family vacations on Cape Cod. His greatest joy, however, was just spending time in the company of his family.

Friends and loved ones are invited to join together to celebrate Martin's life and legacy on Thursday, November 6th, 2025 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at The Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham. Martin will be laid to rest privately at the Jonesville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Martin's name to Make-A-Wish Vermont & Northeast New York, 92 Congress Street, Saratoga, NY 12866 or St. Timothy's Lutheran Church, 1348 NY-9G, Hyde Park, NY 12538.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff on A-3 at Ellis Hospital for the care they provided in his final days.
