CLIFTON PARK - Robert M. Schmitz, 75 of Clifton Park, beloved husband of Nancy (LeMieux), entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, October 8th, 2025 while in the comfort of his home surrounded by the love of his family.
Born in Albany, NY on November 23, 1949, he was the son of the late William N. and Patricia C. (Fitzgerald) Schmitz. Robert married Nancy LeMieux on August 4, 1984. Raised in Nassau, NY he was a graduate of Columbia High School, Class of 1969. He served honorably in the US Army from 1970 to 1972.
A Pipefitter by trade, Bob was employed for many years by General Electric in Waterford. Outside of work, he was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing, and boating. He was a dedicated NY Mets and NY Jets fan. He was a devoted member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Latham. Bob's family was his most cherished treasure. He will be sorely missed yet his love and legacy will live on in their hearts forever.
In addition to his late parents, Bob is predeceased by his siblings William N. (late Diane) Schmitz Jr., and Patricia A. Brunk.
He is survived by his loving wife of forty-one years, Nancy Schmitz, his beloved children Robert M. Schmitz Jr., Maria P. (Shawn) McGuirk, Catherine A. (Mark) Monroe, and Heidi P. (Salvy) Prisco, his thirteen adored grandchildren Mitchum, Nathaniel (Esther), Robert, Drew, Madison, Lyla, Payton, Emily, Austin, Jennifer, Monica, Ashley, and Ellah, four great-grandchildren Esmae, Alayah, Eloni, and Rayshawne, as well as siblings Ann (late John) Lee, John (Judy) Schmitz, and Raymond (Diane) Schmitz, brother-in-law Paul Brunk, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 15th, 2025 at the Calvary United Methodist Church, 15 Ridge Place, Latham. Calling hours will take place from 9:00 to 11:00 AM followed by a service beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment with military honors will immediately follow the service at Saratoga National Cemetery.
