COLONIE - Susan M. Douaihy, 67, of Colonie, NY passed away unexpectedly on August 28, 2025. She struggled for many years with a variety of serious illnesses.

Born on December 22, 1957, in Troy, New York, Sue was the daughter of the late Lucy (Moore) Baldwin. She graduated from Troy High School then attended Hudson Valley Community College where she received her degree in accounting. She retired from the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance after 30 years of employment.

Sue was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles and couldn't pass up a competitive game of Boggle. She enjoyed frequent cruises with her daughter and looked forward to the occasional trip to the casino. Her cats held a very special place in her heart. Above all else, the most important treasure in her life was her family, especially her daughter Amanda.

Sue will be deeply missed by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting her. She had many positive attributes but will be remembered most for her strength and courage, especially when faced with many health challenges throughout the years. She took pride in being independent, hardworking and driven. Sue was an incredibly thoughtful, caring, and generous person, treating everyone she met like family. Led by her strong faith, her kindness and devotion to family and friends will always be a profound source of inspiration.

She is survived by her daughter Amanda Douaihy, her sister Patricia (Daniel) Jacobs, her brothers Michael (Deborah) Baldwin, Kevin (Patricia) Baldwin, her sister Nancy (Ernie) Williams and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Carol McCrea.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM followed by a 12:00 PM prayer service at The Dufresne and Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd, Latham, NY on Friday, September 5th, 2025. Interment to follow at Memory Gardens, 983 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Albany, NY.
