In Loving Memory of Lizabeth Anne Vargonen

July 31, 1947 - July 28, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Lizabeth Anne Vargonen, who left us peacefully on July 28, 2025 - just days before her 78th birthday.

Born on July 31, 1947, Lizabeth was the eldest of nine siblings and a guiding light to her family throughout her life. She was a devoted mother to five children - Leyla (Kazim Parker) Vargonen, Joseph (Melissa) Vargonen, Ali (Colleen) Vargonen, Ahmet (Hannah Naples) Vargonen, and Metin (Jessica) Vargonen - and a proud grandmother to sixteen grandchildren. Her life was rooted in love, strength, and unwavering selflessness.

Lizabeth served her community with compassion and dedication as a nurse, offering care and comfort to those in their most vulnerable moments. Beyond her professional accomplishments, her greatest joy came from her family. Whether gathered around a dinner table or simply sharing a quiet conversation, she made everyone feel seen, heard, and cherished.

She is survived by her loving siblings: Dennis (Deb) Clark, Eugene (Marjorie) Clark, Marjorie (Jeff) Slayton, Virginia Dellinger, Thomas (Julie) Clark, and Edward (Heather) Clark

She is also lovingly remembered by the spouses of her late brothers: Peggy Clark, wife of the late Tony Clark and Carol Clark, wife of the late Robert Clark.

If you needed someone to talk to - she was there. If you needed a helping hand - she was there. Her door, her heart, and her arms were always open. She loved deeply, gave freely, and asked for nothing in return. To those who knew her, she was a source of strength, comfort, and light in even the darkest times.

Her final words, spoken with grace and clarity, were "Please tell everyone I love them."

A simple message that perfectly captures the way she lived - with compassion, kindness, and unconditional love.

We invite all who knew and loved her to join us in honoring her life. A visitation will be held from 12:00 to 1:00 PM on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at The Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd. Latham. Prayer Service will take place at 1:15 PM, July 30, 2025 at the Al-Hidaya Islamic Center, Latham. (All custom and traditions, including dress code, are kindly asked to be strictly adhered to if attending the service at the Mosque). Interment to follow in the family plot at 202 China Hill Road, Nassau, NY 12123.

She leaves behind a legacy of love - one we will carry in our hearts forever.
