MICHAEL E. DOODY
NISKAYUNA - Michael Ernest Doody, Age 71, of Niskayuna, NY, beloved husband, best friend, and soulmate of Linda M (Griffin) Doody, passed away on June 10, 2025 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady.
Mike was born in Corning, NY on July 10, 1953 to the late Thomas Joseph and Mildred Effie (Hall) Doody. He graduated from West High School in Painted Post, NY in 1971. He completed undergraduate studies at Corning Community College, Iowa State, and Oneonta. Mike pursued a degree in engineering from Hudson Valley Community College and graduated from RPI with a Masters degree in Materials Engineering in 1985.
Mike worked for the NYS Department of Transportation for 31 years. He began his career as a researcher in the Research and Development Bureau in the Main Office along with other bureaus within the NYSDOT and then transferred to Region One Traffic and Safety Office. Mike performed many traffic safety accident investigations while collaborating with local police, NYS Police and the Federal Government FHWA. He would then make recommendations to improve safety for motorists as well as pedestrians. He loved his job and was proud of the work he accomplished.
Mike was an avid NY Mets fan and loved baseball. He, his wife and their son George spent many vacations visiting baseball parks. They only had the west coast, except San Diego, and Texas to complete visiting all the baseball parks in the United States. He knew any statistic you'd want to know about baseball; when, where and who did it! He and his childhood friend Terry Casbeer would send trivia questions often back and forth trying to stump each other.
His beloved kitty Buddy passed before him, but they had a great life together. They were pals and Buddy loved traveling in the car with him. After he and Linda married, they adopted Mr. B, Smokey, Shalimar, Jetsie, Muley, Kahula and Binky.
Mike was a member of the Latham Knights of Columbus, the Hornell Elks, the Hornell Moose Association, Schenectady Ancient Order of Hibernians and American Society of Civil Engineers.
Anyone who met Mike will forever remember him as a fun loving, carefree kind of guy. Those who cherished him will forever hold his memory close in their hearts. May he rest in peace.
In addition to his wife Linda, Mike is survived by his son George D. Doin, daughter-in-law Michele Kindlon-Doin, sister Jennie Doody, aunt Donna Marino, and cousin Thomas "TJ" Doody.
