JOHN "JACK" M. CURRAN


LOUDONVILLE - John "Jack" M. Curran, 89, formerly of Loudonville, beloved husband of the late Catherine Elizabeth (Ryan) Curran, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at Teresian House, in Albany .


Born and raised in Troy Jack was the son of the late John Patrick and Anna (Harrington) Curran.  He graduated from La Salle Institute, Class of 1953. Jack married his beloved wife Catherine "Kay" Elizabeth Ryan on August 3, 1957.  They lived a life filled with love of 62 cherished years together.


Jack was also a graduate of the G.E. Drafting Apprentice Program.  He went on to work for the NYS Office of General Services as well as Principal Engineer for the Office of Real Property for a combined 37 years of service until retiring in 1995.


A devout Catholic, Jack was a parishioner of St. Pius X Church in Loudonville where he also served as an usher for many years.  He was a member of the Colonie Senior Citizens where he enjoyed playing in their golf league as well as the Colonie Elks Lodge 2192.


In addition to his late parents and wife, Jack is predeceased by his siblings Anne (late Leonard) McHugh, Joe Curran, and Steve Curran, his brother-in-law David Folsom and sisters-in-law Nancy Curran and June Curran, as well as his grandson Derek Murphy.


He is survived by his children Br. Jack Curran F.S.C., Mark (Roberta) Curran, Mary Kay (Don) Scott, Michael (Christina) Curran, Anne Marie (Tom) Hoffman, Paul (Karen) Curran, and Sue Ellen (John) Murphy, 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.  Also survived by his siblings Bill (Linda) Curran, Mary Folsom, as well as sisters-in-law June Curran and Bernadette Curran and several nieces and nephews.


Jack's family would like to recognize the staff at Teresian House and thank them for their exceptional care, especially the therapy staff and staff on floors 3B and 4A.  


Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Monday, June 9th, 2025 at St. Pius X Church, 23 Crumitie Rd., Loudonville, NY.  Those wishing to pay their respects and visit with Jack's family many do so from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the chapel of St. Pius X.  The funeral mass will begin at 10:30 in the main church with Reverend James Walsh, celebrant.  Interment to follow in the family plot of St. Joseph's Cemetery, Troy.
